The Fairfield Console Table
Two hairpin legs and a wall bracket screw to the underside of the top, then the bracket fixes to your wall. It takes about 10 minutes.
How it goes together. The Fairfield stands on two steel hairpin legs, one at each very end of the top along the front edge. Because it only has two legs, it comes with a wall bracket as standard: the bracket fixes the back of the top to your wall, and that is what keeps it standing steady.
Step 1 of 4
Check the parts
- Unpack the top, the two hairpin legs and the wall bracket. They may arrive in separate parcels.
- Check the screws: four for each leg and the screws for the wall bracket, plus wall plugs.
You need a screwdriver, and a drill for the wall fixing.
Step 2 of 4
Fit the two legs
- Lay a blanket or the flattened box on the floor and put the top on it upside down, best face down.
- Stand a hairpin leg on the underside at one end, plate flat on the timber, right at the very end of the top and along the front edge (the edge facing into the room).
- Put a screw through each of the four holes in the plate. Tighten them evenly, a little at a time, so the plate sits flat.
- Fit the second leg the same way at the other end, also on the front edge. Both legs sit on the front edge; the wall bracket holds the back.

Step 3 of 4
Fit the wall bracket
- Find the middle of the long back edge (the edge that goes against the wall).
- Screw the flat arm of the L bracket to the underside there, with the other arm standing up level with the back edge so it will sit flat on the wall. The legs are on the front edge; the bracket goes on the back.
With only two legs, the wall bracket is what keeps the Fairfield standing upright. It comes as standard, so always fit it.

Step 4 of 4
Fix it to the wall
- Turn the console the right way up and stand it in place, the back edge against the wall.
- Check the top is level, then mark the wall through the hole in the bracket.
- Drill the hole, fit a wall plug, and screw the bracket to the wall.
- Give it a gentle push to check it is firm.
