Acumen Collection was founded by Michael Farrer, a Cumbrian in his thirties who has always dreamt of creating his own business.
Meet the Founder
Acumen Collection was founded by Michael Farrer in 2018 and was driven by a lack of high quality furniture to rival mass produced alternatives.
Michael had a passion for interior design and sustainability so when he saw a need for sustainably sourced handmade furniture with a personal approach Acumen Collection was born.
Since 2018, Michael has built a fully functioning workshop that can produce bespoke furniture according to the specification received. From turning a few reclaimed scaffold boards into a fully functioning dining table or re-purposing an old railway sleeper into an industrial farmhouse bench, we have the tools and facilities to achieve whatever is required. Michael has also built up strong relationships with UK based workshops and a handful of world leading home furniture brands and manufacturers and gradually expanded from rustic stools to offer home office, living and dining room furniture.

Our Mission
Our mission is to empower people to design their own furniture and find a solution to environmental problems caused by the traditional mass produced furniture industry. We will do this by creating artisanal, sustainable and long-lasting products.
Our Commitment
When the impact is so positive, the only thing we are comfortable doing is fully committing to doing things "in a different way". We are committed to the customer journey and supporting our supply chain.
What You See Is What You Get
Here at Acumen Collection, most of the images used to showcase our products are our own as we strive to show our products at their best. Depending on the lighting and existing furnishing in your home, you may find that some products look lighter or darker once they are delivered by our one or two-man home delivery service.
As an added precaution, we do offer samples for our made to order timber products so if unsure of a wax or oil finish, please search for our sample product page and we will send them out in a few days.
Please also note that all products stocked by Acumen Collection may have slight variations with no two products being an identical match for each other with slight variances between each. If you have made an order from Acumen Collection in the past and are looking to get an additional item please contact us first as finishes and the type of timber used over time may differ.
