Introducing our 80-100 year-old miniature rustic milking stools. These beautiful pieces have earned their place in the Acumen Collection due to their rarity, stunning authentic features, and remarkable versatility. Perfect as stylists props, they add height and dimension to interior displays, allowing you to play with levels and create captivating compositions.

Please note that each stool is entirely unique in size, construction, and rustic wear, making it impossible to replicate the exact appearance shown in images or guarantee precise dimensions. To ensure you find the perfect stool for your home, we provide access to galleries of available stock, giving you the opportunity to explore various options.

Rest assured, while the stools bear the beautiful marks and patina of their age, they have been meticulously restored to working order. As a result, you'll receive a sturdy stool that exudes character and charm, embodying the timeless allure of bygone eras.

All of our miniature stools are unique and have had their own practical journey through life. We are told that most will have been used by children to sit on in Chinese schools. Finish wise, the lighter or bleached look stool has spent most of its useful life outdoors with exposure to the sun. On the other hand, our darker brown stools are indicative of stools that have spent most of their useful life indoors with less sun and more moisture in the atmosphere.

The rustic wear on the stools extends to indentations, scratches, repairs, historically treated woodworm holes/tracks, paint splashes and areas of scorching. We feel this adds character to our stools but in case you specifically do not want any of these features please add a note in the order note section on the cart page and we will endeavour to send you your preferred style.

Crafted from Reclaimed Wood

Part of the Acumen Collection, our Miniature Rustic Milking Stools are handcrafted using traditional techniques from reclaimed elm wood, salvaged from 80-100-year-old sources.

We are committed to offering beautiful products made from reclaimed or sustainably sourced materials. Illegal logging remains the top environmental crime worldwide, driving widespread deforestation and devastation to forests. By choosing reclaimed wood, we help combat this global issue while celebrating the beauty of materials with a story to tell.

Recycled Materials

The future of the planet is in our hands. Supporting small enterprises and the local economy is key to a more sustainable world and fairer society. That’s why we only work with craftsmen who make all our products by hand, with the passion that only people who love their craft possess.

We simply can’t ignore uncontrolled deforestation and the terrible impact it has on the planet. We believe the best tree is that which is not felled at all, which is why we prioritise the use of recovered wood to make our furniture and avoid the need to extract natural materials.

Great rustic piece of furniture

"Really nice rustic piece, and well made. Looks great in our kitchen. Little smaller than we thought, as didn’t quite make it to the stated height size of between 20-30cm at just 18cm but still works with the accessories idea we had"
