Timber type

Reclaimed Elm (Free Upgrade) Rustic Pine

Reclaimed Elm (Free Upgrade): Our recommended timber. A dense hardwood with decades of history in every board — fine, tight, straight grain with small dark pin knots. The considered choice, at the same price as pine as a free upgrade. Cut in small batches — popular sizes go fast, so check availability below.
Rustic Pine: FSC certified kiln-dried Scandinavian redwood. Rustic Weathered carries the sweep of arced Swedish saw marks across the face; Modern Planed removes them. Warm honey tone, round dark knots.

The timber makes the table

Two timbers, same price. Reclaimed elm is our recommended choice — a dense hardwood we've made available as a free upgrade. Pine remains the choice for a warm honey tone with bold round knots.

Reclaimed Elm

Dense hardwood · Fine, tight grain · Small dark pin knots

Aged character in every board. Reclaimed elm is denser and stronger than pine, with a fine straight grain and subtle pin knots. Because supply is limited we've made it available at the same price as pine — a free upgrade while stocks last.

Real questions from real customers

Frequently asked

How do I choose between reclaimed elm and rustic pine?

Both are the same price — reclaimed elm is a free upgrade. Elm is denser and stronger with a fine straight grain and small dark pin knots. Pine is warmer in tone with distinctive round dark knots and, on Rustic Weathered, arced Swedish saw marks. Order samples from Complete the Set above to see both in person.

What's the difference between Rustic Weathered and Modern Planed?

Rustic Weathered: each elm top goes through a specialist wire-brushing machine that lifts the softer fibres out of the grain, leaving fine grooves you can feel. The wax settles deeper into those grooves, so the tight, straight elm grain reads in two tones. Modern Planed: planed smooth with the fine fibres left in the grain, so the wax is taken up evenly. The result is a calm, consistent colour that lets the dense elm figure and small pin knots read cleanly. Same timber, same wax colours — the difference is the surface.

How much space do I need around a 180 × 110 table?

Industry rule of thumb: leave 90 cm clearance on each side so chairs can pull out comfortably. A 180 × 110 table therefore needs a room space of at least 360 × 290 cm. Extending? Add the leaf length to your table dimension, not to the clearance.

Does the top come with legs?

No. The top is supplied on its own, ready to fix to our steel legs or your own base. If you would like a complete table, choose one of our dining tables and we build the legs and top together.

What's your delivery process for larger tables?

Free UK mainland delivery on every table via our dedicated two-man courier team. We contact you 3–5 days before shipping to book a convenient day. Saturday delivery included at no surcharge across most of UK mainland. The legs take about 10 minutes to fit on arrival, using the supplied fixings.

How do I care for the finish long-term?

Wax Polish tables benefit from a wax refresh once a year with the Fiddes Wax Care Pack (in Complete the Set above). Hard Wax Oil tables need less maintenance — the finish is more durable to spills and heat. Always use coasters and place mats to protect the finish under hot or wet items.

Can I cancel or return my order?

Cancellations within 14 days of ordering. Once production has started (material ordering, cutting, jointing, finishing, packing) a restocking fee of up to 20% may apply. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
