Seven finishes
Each finish goes on in two coats and is buffed by hand. On rustic shelves the saw-mill marks catch the wax for a two-tone look; on modern planed shelves the colour is calmer and more even.

How your unit is made
Every unit is made to order in our Cumbria workshop: currently 4–6 weeksdelivered from 14 January.
- Selected
FSC certified kiln-dried Scandinavian redwood, chosen board by board.
- Cut and drilled
Each shelf is cut to your length and drilled for the pipes, so every hole lines up.
- Sanded and waxed
Sanded smooth, then two coats of Fiddes supreme wax, buffed by hand.
- Kitted and packed
Your pipe kit is counted out for your size and packed with the fixings and instructions.
Frequently asked
232 cm to the top of the pipes, with the bottom shelf 13 cm off the floor and 37 cm of clear space between shelves. Raising the bottom shelf with leg extensions makes the whole unit taller by the same amount.
It stands on its own floor flanges. For extra peace of mind, or with small children in the house, it can also be fixed to the wall with L brackets or screwed down through the floor flanges.
The bottom shelf sits 13 cm up. If your skirting is taller than that or deeper than 2 cm, add leg extensions in the chooser to lift the bottom shelf clear.
Send us a rough sketch with the height of the socket from the floor and its distance from the nearest wall, and we will tell you if a shelf would clash.
The shelves are 38 mm FSC certified kiln-dried Scandinavian redwood, cut, sanded and hand-waxed in our Cumbria workshop. The pipe is 3.4 cm chunky furniture-grade steel with fine threads that almost disappear into the fittings.
Your shelves come wrapped in packs with the pipe kit, the fixings and illustrated step-by-step instructions. If the shelves and kit travel with different couriers, we aim for them to arrive on the same day.
You screw the legs together, build it lying on its back and stand it up. A second pair of hands helps when you stand it up.

You can cancel within 14 days of ordering. Because every unit is made to order, a restocking fee of up to 20% may apply, and once production has started the order may be non-refundable.

EASY ASSEMBLY

Our pipe kits are super easy to assemble and have no threads visible when connected. They come in an Antique Black or Matte black finish with matching cast iron fittings at the joint.
In order to maintain stability, a second person should hold the unit as it is built up.
All fixings and detailed assembly instructions are included with the kit.

1. I have high skirting boards can I raise the height of the bottom shelf?
Answer: Our pipe kits are designed to tolerate standard skirting boards sizes up to 13cm height and 2cm depth from wall. If your skirting boards are larger than this please let us know and we will send you a quote for pipe extensions below the bottom shelf.

2. I have a plug socket or light switch that I believe one of the shelves will clash with. How do I avoid them?
Answer: Please send a rough sketch of the plug or light switches position on your wall, including height from floor and distance from edge of any wall you are positioning the shelving unit next to. We will recommend a solution, i.e. usually pipe extensions below the bottom shelf.

3. Can the shelving unit be fixed to a plasterboard wall?
Answer: Yes, however we only supply fixings for masonry so we would recommend using a professional tradesman to install the shelving unit using the most appropriate fixings. If possible try to ensure the fixing plates are screwed into the stud for extra strength.

Is carefully and generously applied to kiln-dried PEFC certified rustic pine shelves in our workshop. This enhances all the natural features and wood grain of both our rustic weathered and modern planed timber types.
3. Furniture Grade Pipes & Fittings
Utilising a simple shorter threaded design than standard plumbing pipe. Our pipe kits are super easy to assemble and have no threads visible when connected. They come in an Antique Black or Matte black finish with matching cast iron fittings at the joint.

End Bands
As an optional extra our workshop can add end bands to each shelf. Our customers find these enhance the industrial vibe of the overall shelving unit.
End bands are steel straps that go around original scaffold boards. They have the words "SUPPORT EVERY 1.2m MAX" stamped into them.
Wax Finishes
We hand finish each shelf with a range of Fiddes Supreme Wax Polishes. Been environmentally friendly these blends of waxes naturally enhance the beauty of the wood we use.
